5 Bollywood Dads Who Gave Us Major Father Goals

Are you a Bollywood junkie just like us? Do you find yourself randomly throwing Bollywood dialogues on daily life situations? Well, then we know that this blog post is going to make you happy. On this Father’s Day, we thought to curate a beautiful list of 5 Bollywood Dads Who Gave Us Major Father Goals.

Who doesn’t love a good Bollywood dad, right? They’re the glue that holds families together and sometimes push the heroes to do some most iconic stuff. Indian Bollywood dads have never not been iconic. Be it their screen presence, their dialogues, or their silent motivation, they have done so much that they have become our favourite.

There have been so many dads in Bollywood who have been red flags, and no we are not going to romanticise ‘ja Simran ja, jee le api zindagi’ anymore because he was literally tearing her life apart by marrying her off to someone she didn’t love, who was not a good person, and someone who was really immature. And let us not even get started on K3G Dad, Mr. Yash Raichand. The Poo lover inside me cringes for the fact that she was looking for his approval. Anyway, coming to the point!

P.S. – As we celebrate these on-screen dads, let’s take a moment to appreciate the real-life fathers who make a difference in our lives. Not that we needed to tell you this, but ya, let’s just take this as a reminder. Here’s to all the dads out there who inspire us with their love, patience, and dedication – you are the real MVPs! Whether on-screen or off, fatherhood is a role that deserves our respect and our entire being. We are grateful for you dads, nothing without you!

Come, let’s read as to why these Bolly dads are the best.

  1. Mahavir Singh Phogat – Dangal

The first one on this list is the iconic Dangal dad. If you have seen this movie (which we are sure you have), you know what we are talking about. Talk about dedication to his daughters, this dad had that. Talk about patience for his kids, this dad was the epitome. Talk about passion for his daughter’s career, and he had it more than they had. Mahavir was shown to be blunt and very strict, but the way he has turned his daughter’s lives to date is something extraordinary. Amir’s portrayal of this role was even more fun and made him one of our favourite dads.

Mahavir’s journey is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that’ll leave you cheering, crying, and fist-pumping in equal measure. You might hate him in the beginning, but by the end of it, everything makes sense. You will see yourself crying for the country and cheering this dad, who was not even there to take credit for it in the end.

The best part of the movie is that we witness Mahavir’s transformation from a strict coach to a proud father, and it’s a journey that’s both inspiring and emotional. It is just awesome to say the least.

  1. Champak Bansal – Angrezi Medium

To begin with, Irfan Khan was one of the classiest actors Bollywood has ever seen. Irrfan Khan’s portrayal of Champak Bansal in Angrezi Medium is a masterclass in nuanced acting. You feel the warmth of a dad through his on-screen presence, and that is the biggest award for an actor. As a single father, Champak’s love for his daughter is palpable. For his daughter, he’ll stop at nothing to make her dreams a reality. He literally goes miles just for her daughter and her ambitions.

Whether it’s selling his business or navigating the complexities of the UK visa process, Champak’s journey is a heartwarming and humorous exploration of a father’s devotion. He might not know a lot of things about why her daughter wants something, but he knows he has to give it to her only out of love. He balances his entire performance effortlessly, balancing light comedic moments with soul-stirring emotional depth.

What makes Champak one of the most lovable modern dads on screen is the fact that he offers unwavering support to his daughter. The way he tackles real-life consequences to see his daughter achieve her dreams will definitely make you teary-eyed. This is hands down a must-watch movie.

  1. Anup Saxena – Gunjan Saxena

We are all aware of the fact that Pankaj Tripathi is a great actor. His acting skills in every genre of movie are beyond excellence. He owns the characters like nobody. His role as Anup Saxena as Gunjan Saxena’s dad, is one of the cutest Bollywood dads. His role is a powerful redefinition of fatherhood. Anup becomes the pillar of support for his daughter Gunjan as she is adamant to pursue her ambitious dream of becoming a pilot in a world that often doubts her abilities. He is always there for her, not only rooting for her but being her strength at her weakest. Every girl deserves a dad like him.

His character as Gunjan’s dad is filled with gentle humour and fierce love. He is his daughter’s anchor and cheerleader, comfort and motivation, and her safest place. He is always pushing her beyond societal expectations and encouraging her to follow her passion. This shows the real side of a girl’s dad. Girl dads are always smashing the patriarchy like nobody’s business while ensuring that their girl is unaffected by societal pressures.

Anup Saxena breaks away from traditional stereotypes just for his daughter and embraces a more modern and supportive approach to fatherhood. We loved him totally.

  1. Bhaskar Banerjee – Piku

Piku is one of the sweetest movies we have ever watched. Bollywood really cooked with this one. Everything about this movie was so special and comforting. Meet Bhaskor Banerjee, the OG drama king dad, played by the one and only Amitabh Bachchan in Piku! He was comical, he was real, but also he was a stressful person, but not in a negative way. The way he loved his daughter was something else. He was extremely and totally dependent on his daughter for everything. The way she took care of his dad and his obsession with his bowel movements was beyond explanation.

His bathroom habits are so legendary that they’ll have you giggling and cringing at the same time. And the same thing happened with his daughter as well. It was tough for her to manage her adulthood, and to take care of a dad like him was like salt on the cake. But the best part of their relationship was that it was real, just like most Indian parent-child relationships, and also fun.

Bhaskar is fiercely protective of her and loves her more than his beloved toilet seat (and that’s saying something!). You will only know this if you have watched this movie. If not, the time is now!

  1. Sachin Sandhu – Thappad

Finally, on this list, we have one of the most progressive dads, and he is Sachin Sandhu. This was an emotional movie, and the role of this dad was outstanding. His transformative impact as a loving father on his children’s lives is what is shown by him in the movie. His daughter is going through a very tough phase in her life, and she wants her loved one’s support. Her dad is there with her to show her that she is on the right path. When she decides to leave her husband after a slap changes everything, Sachin becomes her rock, her confidant, and her guiding light.

She comes from a family with traditional reservations and societal expectations, but not her dad. He decided to stand by Amrita’s decision, validating her emotions and prioritising her well-being. It was his daughter before everything else. He has progressive values and he is adamant about not backing down on them at all.

What a nice onscreen dad, right? Right!

Conclusion

These 5 Bollywood dads have set the bar high, literally in all terms. They have always shown us what it means to be a loving, supportive, and strong father figure. Bollywood has always raised expectations for us in terms of romance, but Bolly dads are no less. Of course, some dads are red flags, and we are not attracted to them at all. But these dads are simply awesome.

From Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic roles to Irrfan Khan’s nuanced performances, each of these actors has brought their unique brand of paternal warmth to the big screen. However, these were our favourite on-screen dads from Bollywood, and we can never get enough of them. We also like the dads from Heyy Baby, but they, however, didn’t qualify to be on this list. What sets these Bollywood dads apart is how they have always balanced discipline with empathy, authority with affection, and tradition with modernity. They’ve shown us that being a good dad isn’t just about providing for your family, but also about being present, supportive, and understanding.

On that note, Happy Father’s Day to all the loving dads out there.
